      Christopher M Bergeron is the Conductor and Music Director Co Founder  of the New Orleans Volunteer Orchestra.

Chris is a graduate of Loyola University New Orleans with a degree in Music Education. During his time at Loyola University,he was elected president of the music education department. Chris is an honorary member of Tulane University's Kappa Delta Pi chapter, the international Honor Society for Education. Conducting in many venues around the city including St Louis Cathedral and Loyola's Roussel hall, Chris is an advocate of young conductors in New Orleans. Chris has also conducted in many cities across the U.S including Cleveland, Texas, and New York.

       

       Chris Bergeron has been invited to become a member of

  Bard Conservatory's "Conductors Institute," where only 25

  young conductors from all over the world are invited to study

  conducting at the highest level. Some of Chris' conducting

  teachers include: Apo Hsu of the National Taiwan Symphony

  Orchestra, Mark Gibson of College Conservatory of Music,

  Harold Farberman of Bard Conservatory, andLeon Botstein,

  conductor of the American Symphony Orchestra (ASO). 

     

      In the orchestra hall, Chris leads his ensembles with passion,

  vigor, and humility. Chris' unique view of the Condutor's

  roles as not a boss, but a fellow musician. Chris is an advocate of

  minimizing the "celebrity status" of the 21st century conductor.

  Chris is also a Band Director and music teacher in the St. Tammany

  Parish public school system, where he teaches Elementary music.
